As a registered nurse and a certified foot care specialist, I have received specialized training from a podiatrist. I am serving Seniors in the comfort of their homes. In addition I will schedule visits to Clubs, assisted living, senior communities and adult Family Homes in Port Orchard, WA and the surrounding areas of the Kitsap and Key Peninsula. What to Expect:
Foot care nurses trim toe nails for clients who have medical conditions that make it impossible for them to safely trim their own nails. This is due to medical conditions such as diabetes, dementia, nerve conditions and many other factors.
Foot care nurses use clippers, sanders, files and Dremel power tools for dystrophic nails. These nails cannot be trimmed by regular clippers due to issues such as fungus.
Fungus can thicken the nail making it impossible to trim with normal clippers and files. Special sanders and burrs are used for these thick nails.
Foot care nurses also address issues with feet such as callous’ and corns.
Nail technicians and spa workers are not trained to recognize a health care problem and are not held to a higher standard of care. Nurses also provide health care teaching to our clients.
